Our mission
Promoting sustainability
We strive to raise awareness of sustainability and promote a culture of reuse and repair to reduce environmental impact and conserve resources.
Tackling e-waste
Our mission is to reduce e-waste by promoting repair services, providing access to free repairs, and extending the life of electronic devices.
Changing legislation
We unite consumers,
Dealers, producers and repairers form a strong community that is committed to repair, sustainability and the protection of our environment.
4.7 million tons of e-waste
Per capita, each EU citizen produces 10.5 kilograms of e-waste annually. In total, this is 4.7 million tons! If this electronic waste were loaded onto trucks stuck in a traffic jam, it would stretch from Berlin to Barcelona.
High hurdles
The hurdles for repairs are far too high! Repairs of uninsured equipment can quickly reach four-digit amounts. Expensive equipment insurance policies often only pay in the event of third-party negligence and require original proof of purchase.
Limited repairability
Manufacturers are increasingly restricting the possibilities for simple repairs. Bonded batteries and soldered storage systems are now standard and prevent consumers from having repairs repaired themselves or by qualified third-party workshops.
715 million new devices per year
Instead of repairing electronics, it is often cheaper and faster to purchase a new device. In 2022 alone, over 715 million new consumer electronics devices were sold in the EU. That's 1.6 devices per capita.
Our solution
With a comprehensive and collaborative solution, we strengthen the repair culture and our use of valuable resources.
A repair levy of 6% of the sales price would ensure that sufficient funds could be raised for all repairs of consumer electronics. With sales of 195 billion euros in 2022 in the EU alone, 11.7 billion euros could have been collected for repairs. The value of all repairs carried out in the EU amounted to 9.87 billion euros
. What does a repair levy do?
Instead of shifting the responsibility for repairs to consumers, we propose joint responsibility. Manufacturers, dealers and consumers are to each pay 2% of the repair levy in order to ensure equal rights and obligations on all sides.
All players in consumer electronics will be gathered under one roof. Bureaucratic, financial and time hurdles must be removed. We want to create a strong platform where consumers can find out about all repair options and connect dealers. In addition, we will offer educational work as well as further training and, in the future, certifications.
