The European Repair Alliance (ERA) is an organization that is passionately committed to a sustainable future. Its main objectives are to reduce e-waste, promote the circular economy and support repair services.

The proposed repair levy is a financial contribution that is levied on the purchase of electronic products. This levy helps to generate funds for free repairs and increases the incentive to repair rather than buy new. Manufacturers, retailers and private individuals all contribute equally to this levy.

Donations to ERA offer individuals the opportunity to actively participate in a sustainable future. As a result, they can benefit from free repairs, network with other like-minded people and contribute to reducing e-waste.

Companies and repair businesses can benefit from membership of the ERA through access to a network of qualified repair service providers. They also have the opportunity to position themselves as responsible players in the circular economy and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

Our measures include the introduction of the repair levy, the promotion of repair services and raising public awareness of the importance of repair and reuse.

Private individuals can make their contribution by donating to ERA. There is no direct membership for private individuals. However, active participation in the association helps to spread the mission!
Companies become members by applying for membership and paying an annual subscription. Membership provides access to the network and allows companies to advertise with the association's logo. The voluntary commitment to pay a repair fee has other advantages, which will be discussed individually.

The money collected from the repair levy, donations and cooperations will be used to finance free repairs for private individuals and to cover the costs of operating the ERA. These means allow repairs for electronic products to be carried out easily and quickly.

ERA attaches great importance to selecting qualified repairers who can offer members high-quality repair services. These companies are carefully selected and must meet certain criteria and standards in order to become part of the ERA network.

The European Commission and other political actors play an important role in supporting and promoting the objectives of the ERA. Through lobbying, political initiatives and legislative changes, they can improve the framework conditions for a sustainable circular economy and support the work of the ERA.

Individuals and organizations wishing to support the objectives of the ERA can do so in a variety of ways. This includes passing on information about ERA's work, participating in events and campaigns and providing financial support through donations or membership fees. Every contribution, whether large or small, is an important step towards a more sustainable future.

We accept all consumer electronics devices and accessories, including smartphones, laptops, computers, cameras and accessories, smartwatches, drones, headphones, fitness gadgets, phones, televisions and accessories and more. Household appliances are not (yet) accepted.

That is correct. Repairs always cost something. For you, for us, for workshops. We want to use the levy to spread the cost of repairs across the community. In the event of damage, we shift the follow-up costs directly to the purchase of a new device.

No. You do not have to register yourself. However, as soon as you request a repair and want to redeem a repair voucher at a workshop, we need a few details.

Insurance companies require recurring payments or limit the insurance period to a minimum. This turns them into a barrel with an open bottom. In the event of a claim, the bureaucratic and time-related hurdles are also extremely high. Proof of purchase is requested, the course of damage is queried and cost estimates are required.

The repair fee is a voluntary amount. There are no further costs. In the event of damage, we do not ask for proof of purchase, do not check ownership and do not ask about the circumstances of the damage. Compared to insurance, the repair charge is also up to 5 times cheaper!

We would like to advocate for a repair levy that does not require restrictions. There should be no restrictions on the type and age of the device, the extent of the damage or the cause of the damage.

However, we will have to introduce a few rules at the beginning so as not to drive ourselves into financial ruin. We will have to clarify exactly what these are before the start of the first repair phase. We will probably limit the amount of the refund at the beginning of our campaign. We will not be able to finance repairs in the high three-digit range. At least not for the time being.

We have also thought of something for this. In the future, we will make advance payments to an account of your choice. We estimate the amount of the payment on the basis of a cost estimate or on the basis of experience.

If the repair has been carried out properly and you have sent us the repair invoice in analogue or digital form, there are now three options:

1. The amount matches exactly. Nothing more needs to be done here.

2. The amount paid in advance was higher than the invoice amount. In this case, we will deduct the remaining amount from your account (with your prior consent, of course).

3. The amount paid in advance was too low. In this case, you will receive the remaining amount from us to your account.

That is the plan. Thanks to our concept, we don't have to communicate directly with workshops, at least not in advance. Thus, there are no restrictions on the choice of workshops. To reimburse the repair costs, upload the invoice to our separate page no later than two weeks after receiving it or send us a copy by post and we will take care of the rest.
